About Train Town....

Train Town opened in 2002 in the Blue Ridge Mall at the intersection of Interstate 70 (I-70), US Highway 40 and Blue Ridge Blvd. in eastern Kansas City, Missouri. ( The photo to the left was taken in April of 2001) It was formed by the alliance of five model railroad organizations. Those organizations are: The Weekend 'N Gineers (N Scale), The South Kansas City Model Railroad Club (HO Scale), The Kansas City Lionel Club (O scale - 3 Rail), The Kansas City Modular O Club (O scale - 2 Rail), and The Kansas City Garden Railroad Society (G Scale).

Train Town was formed to provide a location for our member organizations to have a facility to promote the hobby of model railroading. In October of 2005, Train Town was relocated to historic Union Station in midtown Kansas City Missouri. Due to space limitations at Union Station, the members of Train Town left, looking for a location to be able to display their larger layouts.

In July of 2009, talks began between The Weekend 'N Gineers, The South Kansas City Model Railroad HIstorical Society, The Kansas City Lionel Club and a new member, The Mid America Society for Railroad Preservation and Education, for the reunification of Train Town.

In November of 2010 Train Town moved into its current location at Ward Parkway Center in Kansas City Missouri. We are located inside of the mall adjacent to Target. Our hours of operation are from Noon to 5:00 on Saturday and Sunday. Please note that we are closed on the major holidays that the mall is closed. We are also available for tours and will open by appointment. Please check our contact page for more information.
